How do you tell someone their favorite recipe is just plain awful?

As I see it, you either tell her and hurt her feelings, continue going to her house to eat it, or stop visiting this person who's culinary skills are, apparently, quite limited, if all she can make is potato soup. Ewwwww, that's gross. Is she simple minded or something?
