Would it ease the pain to end it now?

My love is moving in within the next month. He claims we can maintain a long distance relationship....but I have my doubts.....he is doing gov work and I most likely will not get to see him again. Would breaking up with him hurt less than waiting? Its going to be terribly depressing either way, I love him so so much. ..... I just want to lessen the blow
