Is it okay to use a story opening like this?

I know you're using all that description for a reason, but it really is sort of overwhelming. Also, some of it seems a little corny and could be taken out (i.e. "chocolate brown hair"). Other than that though, it's a pretty good start and better than just starting off with a dream. Keep writing(:
