My dog is staring at nothing?

It's really freaking me out. She's laying next to me. She stares at something that I can't see (which is moving because she's moving her head). Then lays down. After about 5 minutes she jolts up and starts staring again. This has been repeating for about an hour now. What do I do? No one is home. :-(
